Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya to miss the NZ series, know the reasons

In a huge turn of events, it is being comprehended that the two cricketers Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are very much to be dropped from the Indian squad of the ODIs for the New Zealand tour. The BCCI selection board is going to declare the Indian team for the New Zealand ODIs on either the 3rd or 4th of January following an online meeting with the members of the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee. According to the rumors, the experienced pair of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are not going to be allowed entry into the Indian squad for the New Zealand ODIs.

This is the reason why Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah might not be part of IND ODI squad for the series against NZ

Over the years, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have been the vanguards of Indian cricket. A pair of debuts during India’s Australian tour in 2016 was enough for both Pandya and Bumrah to become indispensable parts of the Indian team. The Indian bowling department’s backbone in all formats is up and running in Bumrah while the all-rounder with the capability of batting and bowling in white-ball cricket is Pandya.

Cricbuzz has reported that the group of three players led by Bumrah and Pandya is likely not to be included in India’s squad for the ODIs against New Zealand, which will be announced in early January.

According to the report, the Indian think tank is looking to control the workloads of Bumrah and Pandya prior to the T20 World Cup. Being the key players for India in the quickest format, the T20 World Cup hosts do not prefer them to play in the New Zealand ODIs, which are of no importance.

Bumrah and Pandya have indeed faced numerous injuries throughout their careers. The Indian team management, therefore, wants to avoid the risk of losing their fitness just a month before the T20 World Cup. As a result, it is highly improbable that Pandya and Bumrah will be selected for the ODI series and will instead play the following five-match T20I series as part of their World Cup preparation.

It is likely that Bumrah will return to cricket through the T20I series against New Zealand, while Pandya is expected to play Baroda’s Vijay Hazare Trophy matches on January 3, 6, and 8, in accordance with the BCCI’s rule of mandatory participation in domestic games.

Is Shreyas Iyer going to be a part of India ODI squad for the New Zealand series?

The Cricbuzz report mentioned that Shreyas Iyer remains a doubt for the New Zealand ODIs as he is still undergoing recovery from a spleen injury that he suffered during India’s tour of Australia earlier this year. However, the elegant middle-order batter might show up for Mumbai in their Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Maharashtra to check his fitness before the much-awaited home series against New Zealand.
