Brett Lee gives special advice to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to get back in form ahead of the BGT

At times taking a step backward is encouraged so as to take two steps forward. This is the gist of what former Australian speedster Brett Lee is trying to imply concerning the situation of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli when it comes to ‘ getting their groove back’ before the inevitable collision with Australia during the Border by Gavaskar Trophy.

Even the most experienced rise in ranks strategist, Rohit, could not have imagined the depths of disgrace that his team was capable of inflicting upon themselves, as India registered the first 3-0 defeat at home in India’s historical cricket record against New Zealand, which was the first of three match series.

The swords were unsheathed bolts at Rohit, and his all-weather companion, Virat Kohli, the moment of calm after war came into a sharp focus that is why Lee thinks the two need a mental cleanse and a fresh start.

“Look at the Hitman and King Kohli – they scored 90 runs in the whole of the series. That’s very unlike them. They are far better players than that. What exactly went wrong is not easy to understand,” said Lee during a chat on his YouTube channel.

“As you might expect if you experience two or more of such stretches in succession it turns out increasing the stress. I would say the situation at the moment is such that Virat and Rohit simply need to come up with something ground breaking.”

Lee also further emphasized the need to go back to the fundamentals and to step away from the sport for the longest time possible. He also cautioned both batters concerning the Australian fast-bowling unit that would be on the lookout for even the minutest of weakness to exploit and trouble the Indians.

“Concentrate on that drill, take a break, stay away from the sport as much as one can and then go full throttle when arriving in Australia, because I assure you – those Australian pace attack will come after Rohit Sharma when the balls are still new. I have watched him play quite a bit and I believe they will be prepared for the Australians,” Lee spoke.

The Border-Gavaskar series has finally been confirmed and its starting date is set for November 22 when First Test Match will take place at Perth.
