Shimron Hetmyer, an international signing for the Rajasthan Royals, was fined 10% of his match earnings for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
“When he violated the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 2 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 24, Shimron Hetmyer of the Rajasthan Royals was fined ten percent of his match earnings,” according to a statement from the IPL.
Although it’s not stated in the announcement, the West Indian’s abrupt outburst on the field of play after being dismissed may have been the reason for the fine.
After being outwitted by Abhishek Sharma on the fourth delivery of the fourteenth over, Hetmyer lost his composure and attempted to destroy the stumps as an outlet for his resentment. After pitching, Abhishek’s delivery straightened, confusing Hetmyer, who attempted to play inside the ball’s line, thinking it would come in.
Later on Sunrisers Hyderabad went on to win the match by a margin of 36 runs, which in turn ended the campaign of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will now face Kolkata Knight Riders in the finals of the league, which is scheduled to be played in Chennai on May 26th.
