Royal Challengers Bangalore got another blow in the form of their top-order batter Rajat Patidar, who was ruled out of Indian Premier League 2023. Due to the heel injury, NCA hasn’t approved him to play in this IPL season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore announced this major update from their official Twitter handle and wished him a speedy recovery. Still, they haven’t announced his replacement.
“Unfortunately, Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of #IPL2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury. We wish Rajat a speedy recovery and will continue to support him during the process. The coaches and management have decided not to name a replacement player for Rajat just yet.” RCB wrote on their official Twitter handle.
Rajat had played back-to-back blistering innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the last IPL season and is out this season. He is away from the field due to his heel injury. He is currently focusing on his injury recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Rajat Patidar proved to be a game-changer for RCB last season. He had won his team in some important matches. Last season, he got a chance to play 8 matches, and in these matches, he scored 333 runs at a batting average of 55.50 and a strike rate of 152.75. In these 8 innings, he also scored two half-centuries and one century. Due to his absence, the top order of RCB may look a bit weak.
Two lead bowlers of RCB are also out in this IPL season. Josh Hazlewood will not be able to play the opening match of the IPL due to injury, while Wanindu Hasaranga is still unavailable due to the T20 series in New Zealand.
