Coach of the Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid has finally said in writing that he will be leaving the squad after the 2024 T20 World Cup. The former captain of the Indian cricket team, who has led the squad since 2021, declared he will not be running for the position again.
The BCCI has already released an advertisement for the top position, and the new coach will start on July 1. On June 29, 2024’s T20 World Cup comes to a conclusion. Prior to India’s opening game against Ireland at the T20 World Cup 2024, Rahul Dravid made these remarks.
Dravid was also questioned over India’s starting lineup. To which he replied,Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma are here. Everything is set because Virat Kohli can open as well; he did so in the IPL.”
In an interview with reporters prior to India’s opening World Cup matchup with Ireland, Dravid expressed his satisfaction with his entire coaching career. “Each competition has significance. Each and every match I have coached for India has held great significance for me. “So for me, this is just like any other tournament because it’s the last one I’m in charge of,” he replied when asked if the fact that it was his final tournament leading the squad meant more to him.
After the T20 World Cup in November 2021, the former captain of India assumed Coachship of the team. “I adore my work.” I think it’s a really special thing to do, and I’ve really liked coaching India. I had a great time working with this team, and these guys are awesome to work with, but mainly because of schedule conflicts and where I am in life right now, I don’t think I’ll be able to reapply,” he stated.
“So yeah, obviously it’ll be my last one but having said that it’s no different for me to be very honest. From the first day I took the job, I always felt that every game was important and every game mattered and that will not change,” he asserted.
India will be aiming to win an elusive ICC trophy here to end their ICC title drought and provide a perfect farewell for the coach.
