The IPL 2025 auction is scheduled to occur on the 24th and 25th November 2023 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The IPL player registration was closed on 4th November 2024, and a total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 international) has registered for the IPL 2025 Player Auction. The count also includes 320 ‘capped’ players, 1,224 ‘uncapped’ players and 30 players from Associate Nations. The composition of the players is given here in detail: Players with caps from India (48 individuals), Players with caps from other countries (272 individuals), Indian players without caps who have participated in previous IPL events (152 individuals), International players without caps who have played in previous IPL seasons ( 3 individuals), Indian players without caps (965 individuals), Non-citizen players without caps (104 individuals).
Each franchise can have a total of 25 players in their roster, then there will be 204 slots available for bidding at the IPL 2025 Player Auction.
The country-wise breakdown of overseas players who have signed up are as follow – South Africa – 91, Australia – 76, England – 52, New Zealand – 39, West Indies 33, Afghanistan – 29, Sri Lanka – 29, Bangladesh – 13, Netherlands – 12, USA – 10, Ireland – 9, Zimbabwe – 8, Canada – 4, Scotland – 2, UAE – 1, Italy – 1.
Considering the IPL 2025 Auction will take place Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep Singh amongst other India come stars will go under the hammer. The 10 teams will have to share in their total around Rs 641.5 crore for the maximum 204 positions that are available. Of the 204 slots, 70 are reserved for foreign players. Currently, 46 players have been kept by the 10 teams with total spending of Rs 558.5 crore.
Each franchise was given Rs 120 crore to put together its team but once the retention phase took place, that was divulged on the October 31 date, the Punjab Kings have the most remaining money – Rs 110.5 crores.
The Punjab franchise kept only two uncapped players- Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh worth Rs 9.5 crore.
Rajasthan Royals led by Sanju Samson has the least remaining purse of Rs 41 crore as they have already retained six players.
