Brad Hogg Picks Two Players For No.4 In Indian Batting Line Up For World Cup 2023, Sidelined Suryakumar Yadav

Before going into the 2023 ODI World Cup, India will need to solve their biggest problem which is the proper candidate for number four. The tournament will be hosted by India and it will commence from October 5 and final will be played on November 19.

Indian team management along with the coach Rahul Dravid, has experimented with several players for the role, including Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul. However, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg suggests that India could consider trying out Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson in that position during the World Cup.

While speaking to his instagram, Hogg said,”If they’re (Iyer and Rahul) not fit, we need a keeper in this team. I don’t think Ishan Kishan can bat lower down the order. I think he is predominantly an opener.”

“If they open with Kishan and Rohit Sharma, I would have Tilak Varma coming in at No. 4. He has hardly played any one-day cricket. But the way he has operated in T20 cricket shows that he has got the goods for any situation,” he added

Tilak Varma has not yet played any ODIs for India but he has participated in five-match T20I series where he has scored 173 runs at an impressive average of 57.67 and a strike rate of 140.65.
