India is hosting the ODI World Cup 2023 and meanwhile, the former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has given a huge statement on team India. He feels that Australia is the only team with the potential to eliminate India from the 2023 ODI World Cup. Hogg said that India will enjoy the advantage of playing on their home turf, but he emphasizes that Australia possesses a good depth in their team and he trusts the strength of the team.
The marquee event is scheduled to take place in India from October 5 to November 19. India secured victory in the World Cup when hosting in 2011, whereas Australia clinched the title as hosts in 2015. The previous edition held in England in 2019, was won by the home team only.
India and Australia will face each other on October 8 at MA Chidambaram. In an interview with Revsportz, Hogg said,”They [Australia] have a great fast bowling attack with Mitchell Starc who can do a bit of damage with the new ball. We have also got a spinner in Adam Zampa, and he does control the middle overs. We have quite a few all-rounders.”
Hogg also predicted that Travis Head is one of the candidates who can open the innings with David Warner.
He further added,”I think Australia are the only team that can knock India out of the World Cup. They have had success in the World Test Championship and the Ashes. They seem as though they are very switched on.”
