Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023: Wasim Jaffer Picks Probable XI For 1st Test, No Place For Suryakumar & Axar

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has picked his probable playing XI of team India for the 1st Test against Australia which will be played in Nagpur. The stunning part is Jaffer has not included the two-star players of the team for the series opener in the most prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Jaffer who is known for his bold and straight approach has not picked Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel for the 1st Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In his star-studded Indian starting XI for the series opener against Australia, Jaffer has selected Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami. He has picked KS Bharat as his first choice of Wicket-Keeper. “Hard to leave out Axar but Kuldeep brings variety as a wrist spinner,” Jaffer said in his tweet.

Talking about the first test which will start on 9 February in Nagpur, Indian star batter Shreyas Iyer is likely to miss the first test with a back injury that he got during the New Zealand series. Not only India, but Australians are suffering from an injury as well. Star Aussie pacer Josh Hazelwood and Mitchell Starc will not provide their services to the national team for the 1st test.

A look at Wasim Jaffer’s Probable Playing XI for the 1st Test(Nagpur):

Rohit Sharma(C), KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KS Bharat(WK), Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and M Siraj
