Bold Projections: Harbhajan’s Picks for T20 World Cup

Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh believes Sanju Samson should be selected ahead of Rishabh Pant in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Speaking to the press ahead of the IPL playoffs, Harbhajan stated that Samson has been excellent all season and deserves to be recognized for his consistency.

Samson guided RR to the IPL playoffs in 2024. Rajasthan dominated the majority of the IPL 2024, but lost form near the end of the competition. RR qualified for the playoffs in third place and will face the RCB in the Eliminator on Wednesday, May 22.

Samson was rewarded with a long-awaited call-up to the Indian team. The wicketkeeper-batter had been spurned for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which was a great surprise for the fans, but this time, the BCCI trusted Samson and selected him as one of the two wicketkeepers for the event.

“Rishabh Pant performed well in the IPL. He has come out of his injuries. He appeared fit, batted well, and did some excellent wicketkeeping. But Sanju performed exceptionally well. I’d want to see him have the chance. He has been performing steadily. He has been scoring in the 60s and 70s, unlike the old Sanju, who would only score in the 30s and 40s. But there was no hurry to bring Pant back; he worked extremely hard. “I hope he does something special for India,” Harbhajan stated.

Bhajji stated that India had a far superior roster than Pakistan for the event and that the Men in Blue should have no trouble defeating their bitter enemies. “I am confident we will win against Pakistan; we have a great record against them and a better team,” the former spinner said.
