Big Relief For Mohammed Shami And Family, Cricketer Granted Bail In Domestic Violence Case

On Tuesday, a lower court in Kolkata granted bail to the renowned Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, in a domestic violence case that had been filed against him by his separated wife, Hasin Jahan. Not only this but Shami’s older brother, Mohammed Hasib, was also granted bail by the same court on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, both the two brothers appeared in the lower court, and their lawyer submitted a bail petition for them which was later approved by the court.

The domestic violence case was initiated by the estranged wife of the Indian fast bowler back in March 2018. In her complaint, she had alleged that Shami had physically abused her when she protested against his alleged ‘extra-marital’ relationships.

The police started interrogation against the two brothers regarding the matter and then issued an arrest warrant against them. However, the lower court in Kolkata had put a hold on that warrant.

“Police have filed a charge sheet against Md Shami and his brother. The law states that once the charge sheet is submitted, the accused will have to appear before the court and seek bail in self defense. Accordingly we appeared before the court today and moved a bail prayer. The court has granted bail to both the siblings. Shami will henceforth participate in the upcoming legal proceedings in this case as required in law,” Shami’s counsel Salim Rahaman was quoted as saying by The Telegraph

Hasin Jahan then approached the Calcutta high court to challenge the order of the lower court but the high court of the city went with the same decision.
