Just after the end of the Indian Premier League, the Indian cricket team has to go to England to play the final of the World Test Championship. Team India has to play the final against Australia from June 7 to 11. Both teams are preparing strongly to win this prestigious match. BCCI has also announced a 15-member team in which veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane has been brought back.
But now, only after 3 days, there is a lot of possibility that BCCI will add five young players to the squad. But the official announcement has yet to be made.
According to reports, Rituraj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Ishaan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini may be asked to be ready as stand-by players for the WTC Final. These five players are seen as options for the opener, middle-order batsman, wicketkeeper-batsman and fast bowler. These four players are currently playing with different teams in the IPL.
Except for Navdeep Saini, none of the five players whose names BCCI is considering as stand-by players for the final of the World Test Championship have any Test experience. Saini has 2 test match experiences. Sarfaraz Khan and Mukesh Kumar are yet to make their international debut, while Rituraj Gaikwad and Ishaan Kishan are waiting for their Test debut.
Apart from Sarfaraz Khan, Rituraj Gaikwad, Ishaan Kishan, Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar are also planned to be taken to England as stand-by if any key player gets injured during the match. Then these players may get a chance, but its official announcement has yet to be made.
In such a situation, experts are predicting that there is a lot of chance that Sarfaraz Khan can be given a place in the team for the WTC final as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
Sarfaraz Khan has played 37 first-class matches, in which he has scored 3505 runs at an average of 79. Sarfaraz Khan scored 1 triple century, 13 centuries and 9 half-centuries in the first class.
