Big Blow For Team India, Star All-Rounder Ruled Out Of Australia And South Africa Series

A piece of bad news is coming for the Indian cricket fans. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is facing an extended period on the sidelines and is likely to miss the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia and South Africa.

Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury in the league-stage match against Bangladesh in Pune during the 2023 ODI World Cup. As a result, he was ruled out of the tournament, and Prasidh Krishna was named as his replacement.

Hardik Pandya sustained the injury while attempting to halt the ball in his follow-through using his foot. Unfortunately, he lost his balance and experienced a heavy fall, resulting in his body weight putting pressure on his twisted ankle.

After the incident, the all-rounder had to leave the field and underwent scans. Despite initial hopes that he might be able to participate in the later stages of the World Cup, it was revealed that the injury was more severe than initially thought.

A young Indian team is slated to play against Australia in a five-match T20I series. Initially, Hardik Pandya was anticipated to lead the side. However, with the prominent all-rounder sidelined due to his injury, the team’s leadership responsibility is likely to be taken up by either Suryakumar Yadav or Ruturaj Gaikwad.

As per a report from the Indian Express, it is now anticipated that Hardik Pandya won’t recover in time to join the squad and participate in the three ODIs and three T20Is.
