Ahead of the Asia Cup, Pakistan has suffered a major setback, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to injury. The entire team of Pakistan was completely dependent on his bowling in the upcoming international tournament. Shaheen suffered a right knee ligament injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle last month.
Not to forget, Shaheen Afridi wrote the script for Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World 2021 by dismissing 3 Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.
Shaheen was injured in the Test series on the Sri Lanka tour, after which he was rested in the second Test. Pakistan’s first match against India is on 28 August in the Asia Cup and fans are eagerly waiting for this great match.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam said that doctors are monitoring Shaheen’s injury. We cannot take any risk with him. Sources say that if Shaheen recovers, then he can go into the last match against the Netherlands. The Pakistan captain has made it clear that the team will not take any risk regarding Afridi’s fitness.
