Big Blow For New Zealand, After Mitchell Santner This Star Batter Tested Positive For Covid

The star Indian batter Devon Conway has tested positive for COVID-19 and was excluded from the 4th T20I, just hours before the match against Pakistan at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on January 19, Friday.

A statement from New Zealand Cricket read, “Devon Conway has been ruled out of the fourth T20I against Pakistan after testing positive for Covid-19. Conway has been in isolation at the team’s Christchurch hotel after testing positive yesterday. Canterbury Kings batsman Chad Bowes will join the squad today as cover.”

Before Conway, stand-in captain Mitchell Santner had previously tested positive for Covid-19, causing him to miss the series opener. However, he recovered and made a comeback to lead New Zealand in the 2nd and 3rd T20Is.

In place of Devon Conway, Chad Bowes who plays for Canterbury Kings, has been included in the New Zealand squad. Apart from these players, New Zealand’s bowling coach, Andre Adams, has also tested positive for Covid-19.

“Bowling coach Andre Adams has also tested positive for COVID and will also remain at the team’s hotel. Canterbury Men’s Development Coach Brendon Donkers will join the team for today’s match to help out in Adams’ place,” NZC said in a statement
