West Indies has won the toss and elected to bowl first in the 2nd T20I against India. Indian batters did not perform well with the bat and eventually India had to face a defeat by 5 wickets. Now this 5-match T20I series is at 1-1 for both the teams.
This match also came with bad news for Indian Cricket fans as the fast Indian bowler Harshal Patel has been ruled out from the 3rd T20I as well. The reason behind his unavailability is a rib injury.
After the toss, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma gave an update on Harshal Patel and said that due to some serious injury the bowler is not fit to play the 2nd and 3rd T20I. Also, team India went for a minor change, and leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi has been benched for pacer Avesh Khan.
Also, the match saw a drama before it started at 11. The game was delayed almost for three hours as the goods and other luggage of the Players did not reach the stadium on time.
The West Indies Cricket Board had earlier informed that the match will be stopped for 2 hours only, however, nearly 3 hours were wasted before the start of this match.
In this crucial game, none of the batter except Hardik Pandya scored runs. Hardik had 31 runs from his bat but it was not enough for the team to reach to a defendable total. Chasing the target of 139 runs, West Indian batter Brandon King smashed a sensational fifty.
Harshal Patel has done very well for India in the past few years. He started receiving that applause after the IPL 2021, where he got the famous purple cap for clinching the most number of wickets. On the other hand, Patel again came with different variations for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
