“Bewakoof tum nai ho, mein hoon’,”…”Deepak Chahar’s former teammate reveals a funny incident when Dhoni scolded Deepak Chahar

Every cricket lover in India is well aware of the fact that the great skipper MS Dhoni who led India to a World Cup triumph is a very composed man on the field. However, a certain instance of even Dhoni getting irked has been shared by his former colleague, Mohit Sharma, who plays for the Gujarat Titans currently.

While participating in the 2 Sloggers podcast on Youtube, the 36-year-old described an instance where Singh appeared to lose his cool with Deepak Chahar’s behavior.

“Deepak Chahar has taken a lot of sledge. When we were there in 2019, We were sitting outside with Karan. Deepak was playing and back then, we were soaking wet as we were playing in Chennai, it is so hot there,” the Indian said.

The GT pacer further disclosed that Chahar had attempted one of those deliveries during the course of the match held at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, which is known as a knuckle-ball.

After getting smashed, the then-Captain of the Chennai Super Kings, ordered Chahar not to repeat that particular delivery and suggested him to experiment with other variations. However, this did not stop Chahar from doing the same delivery and as expected, he was taken for runs.

“He threw one knuckle-ball and it was too high. Mahi bhai instructed him no more knuckle-balls. He was fine and everything and after 1-2 balls he did it again. Mahi bhai came and hugged him, said 2-3 things and left,” said Mohit.

Though after the match was when Deepak turned to Mohit, who was sitting out that match, and told him what Dhoni had actually said which made the Indian veteran laugh a lot.

“Post match, he disclosed, ‘Mahi bhai said ,‘Bewakoof tum nai ho, mein hoon’,” he concluded.

Both Mohit and Chahar have had a reasonably exciting spell with the Chennai Super Kings. Both men have also represented the national team due to their performances in the Indian Premier League. However, the former is at the dying end of his career while the latter is trying to manage his recurring injury problems.

We have not heard the retention rules for the 2025 mega-auctions, so it will be appealing to watch if most of these players will stick with their franchises or we will have some new players in order to change the tempo.
