England and New Zealand are facing each other in the third ODI of the four-match ODI series being played at Kennington Oval, London. In this match the hosts are batting first and the star all-rounder Ben Stokes who has been called out of the retirement for the ODI World Cup has shown his skill of power-hitting.
While facing 124 balls, Stokes missed his double century by just 18 runs and smashed 188 with the help of 15 fours and nine massive sixes. He was caught by Will Young on the bowling of Ben Lister. England got a dull start where Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root returned to Pavillion without contributing much. After that Dawid Malan took the charge with Ben Stokes and scored 96 runs before getting out in 30.1 overs.
As the stage was set for Stokes, he started firing the ball all-around the park and got his maiden hundred after coming from retirement. In the first ODI as well, he got 52 runs with his bat showing that he is all set for the upcoming World Cup happening in India.
Before this ODI Series, New Zealand and England clashed in a four-match T20I series in which both the teams won the same number of matches(2). Talking about the ODI series, the first was won by New Zealand by 8 wickets, while England won the second one by 79 runs as per DLS method.
