“Because of Sajana…” Harmanpreet Kaur went all praise after the thriller in WPL opener

It could not have been anything better for the start of the second season of the WPL, as the defending champion Mumbai Indians stated their campaign by winning their first encounter of the season.

Mumbai needed five of the final deliveries, and S.Sajana hit a phenomenal six on the final delivery of Alice Capsey to seal the deal for the defending champions.

After the match got over, Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was all praise for the young all-rounder’s successful chase. Needing 12 runs in the final over, Skipper Kaur said that they wanted to finish the match in the first three balls themselves.

In the post-match conference, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “Wicket looked fine while batting; we thought if we took the game deep, we could win. (on Sajana) She was smacking sixes during the practice session, and she showed us tonight. We were looking to finish the game on the first three balls, but we know we have depth in our batting because of Sajana, who’s standing here. Battering first or second does not matter; only conditions matter, and according to that, we change.”

Well, it was young wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatiya (55 of 34 balls) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (57 of 45 balls) who played a pivotal role in keeping Mumbai in the hunt.

Harmanpreet Kaur credited their team’s coach for her return to form.
