BCCI’s Unofficial Complaint to ICC: What You Need to Know

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has received an unofficial complaint from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the New York pitch in advance of the June 9 match versus Pakistan. This occurs when throwdown specialist Nuwan struck India captain Rohit Sharma in the thumb during a match in the nets. In addition, Rohit experienced an arm ache, which prevented him from playing through Wednesday’s encounter against Ireland. Ireland pacer Joshua Little smacked him on the biceps with a delivery.

But Rohit wasn’t the only one who felt uncomfortable in the nets because of the strange bounce off the practice track. Even superstar batsman Virat Kohli had trouble batting in the nets, according to cricket journalist Abhishek Tripathi. On the other hand, Kohli escaped injury. Even before this highly anticipated match, there has been much discussion about the unpredictable nature of the 22-yard pitch, which the International Cricket Council (ICC) has acknowledged.

Teams have only scored more than 100 runs twice in the six innings of the three games that have been held at the venue so far. A number of former players have openly questioned if the low scoring environment would serve to promote cricket in the United States through the opening event. At the location, Adelaide Oval groundskeeper Damian Hough oversees four drop-in pitches that were installed in April, but they haven’t fully settled yet.

The uneven bounce of the surface has also made batsmen concerned about their safety, particularly in light of the fact that Indian captain Rohit Sharma had to abandon batting during the opening match of the tournament against Ireland on June 5 due to a blow to his shoulder.

“To be honest, I’m not sure what to anticipate from the proposal. We’ll get ready as though this is how the game in Pakistan will unfold. After the match against Ireland, Rohit had stated, “This is going to be the kind of game where all XI of us will need to contribute.”

Concerns about the pitches used for the T20 World Cup’s New York leg were becoming more and more apparent, so the ICC was forced to issue a statement a day after India’s match. “The ICC recognise that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted,” said the statement.

However, the Pakistani squad has not yet gotten used to the Nassau Stadium’s circumstances. After losing badly to USA, who were playing in their first tournament, they traveled to New York on Thursday night and rested the next day.
