BCCI Starts The Hunt For Chief Selector Before ODI World Cup, This Former Star Opener Likely To Drop His Name For The Role

It has been six months since Chetan Sharma was sacked from the position of chief selector and now looking at the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India, BCCI is looking for a replacement for Sharma.

The Indian Cricket Board has recently announced an open invitation for applications to fill a position on the selection committee. Currently, Shiv Sunder Das is serving as the interim chief of the committee, while there has been strong speculation that former Indian opener Virender Sehwag is also one of the top contenders for the role.

After the exclusion of Chetan Sharma, the current selection committee includes Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, Sridharan Sharath, and Shiv Sundar Das. Those players who have at least played seven Test matches for India can give their names for the position. Apart from it, thirty First-Class matches, ten Day International matches, and twenty First-Class matches should also come on their radar. Not only this, the players applying for the chief selector, must have retired from international cricket before five years.

Chetan Sharma was removed from his post after he revealed some secrets about Team India and its players during a sting operation. Now only three months are left for the ODI World Cup and hence BCCI is looking for the perfect replacement for Chetan Sharma’s post. 30th June is the deadline for the desired candidates to give their names.
