The 2023 ODI world cup is one of the most awaited tournaments in near time and the BCCI wants to leave no stone unturned to give a proper start-and-finish to this marquee event. Now, according to a latest news report, the BCCI has shortlisted 20 Indian players who will be part of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.
The BCCI has great planning regarding the tournament and they want to rotate their players in order to ensure their correct preparation for the tournament. It is being reported that the chief selector Chetan Sharma, Head coach Rahul Dravid, Skipper Rohit Sharma and NCA Head VVS Laxman gathered at a hotel in Mumbai where they had a discussion over the preparation for the upcoming World Cup.
The reports claim that all these players had a four hour discussion where they talked on prioritising the bilateral series more and more in order to stretch the arms for the ODI World Cup. The BCCI head Roger Binny attended the meeting via video conferencing where he also put his valuable ideas for the tournament.
A BCCI source who attended the meeting had talked to Cricbuzz and said,”It was a very constructive and fruitful meeting where we have reviewed the past performance and planned for the future events, including World Cup and World Test Championship (WTC). We will give preference for international cricket while making sure the IPL is not diluted.”
He further added,”The issues of player availability, workload management and fitness parameters were also discussed at length during the meeting along with the roadmap to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.”
It has been also learnt that, Yo-Yo test and Dexa will be the criteria which will be implemented on all the players. The NCA has been given another task where they will monitor the performance and fitness of targeted players in the IPL 2023.
The emerging player from IPL 2023 will not get the national call until he plays a substantial domestic season.
