On Thursday, June 6, the BCCI released the domestic 2024–25 schedule. The BCCI removed the toss from the CK Nayudu Trophy in a creative way. The Ranji Trophy will begin this season in October, according to a BCCI announcement. Red-ball cricket, which will feature the coveted Duleep Trophy, will open the season.
The Duleep Trophy, which will take place at Anantapur on September 5th, will feature four teams chosen by the Senior Men’s Selection Committee. The first five league games will be played for the Irani Cup and Ranji Trophy after this.
After that, the white-ball competitions will take center stage. The Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will come first. The last two league games for the Ranji Trophy will then take place, leading up to the knockout stages.
“The Domestic Home Season 2024-25 has been meticulously planned, taking into account multiple factors to fortify the core of domestic cricket while prioritising player well-being,” the BCCI said in a press release.
In order to put player wellbeing first, there will be a longer interval between games, which will provide players enough time to recover and continue performing at their best. Cricket for women Teams chosen by the national selectors will compete in all Women’s Challenger competitions, which include one-day, T20, and multi day formats.
A new points system for the CK Nayudu Trophy is intended to promote balanced performances. Points are awarded for both bowling and hitting efficiency in the opening over as well as for winning the first over with a lead or for securing an innings-long lead.
The effectiveness of the new points system will be thoroughly reviewed after the season, and it may be added to the Ranji Trophy in future years.
The CK Nayudu Trophy matches will no longer feature the toss, which is a creative approach. As an alternative, the visiting side will get to choose whether to bowl or bat first. Considerations for the Weather There has been an attempt made to lessen the effect of weather-related delays on fixtures
