The BCCI is thinking about hosting the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the 2025-2027 cycle in India, and they’ll share a formal plan later. So far, England has held both WTC finals in 2021 and 2023 at Hampshire and the Oval. Reports say that talks about this happened during last month’s ICC chief executives meeting in Zimbabwe, with IPL chairman Arun Dhumal representing the BCCI. Jay Shah, who used to be the BCCI secretary, is now the ICC Chairman after taking over from Greg Barclay in December 2024.
If India makes it to the next WTC final, it’ll be a big deal for fans. Even if India isn’t there, a match with two other top teams would still draw a crowd. A source mentioned that having the final in India during Shah’s time would be a nice achievement for him. But if India and Pakistan both make it to the final, their tense relationship could create some issues, although that’s something they’ll figure out later.
