BCCI is all set to launch its new form of T20 League and its none other than the Women’s Indian Premier League ( WIPL).

The first edition of Women’s IPL is likely to be held in the month of March 2023.

According to a report, the BCCI will give a one month space for this tournament and almost 5 teams will take part in this league. The schedule will likely take place after the women’s T20 world cup which will be held in South Africa.

Talking about the development of this tournament, a senior BCCI official has said,”Yes, the WIPL will start in the first week of March and we have earmarked a four-week window for the first year. The T20 World Cup in South Africa is from February 9 to 26 and immediately after that we plan to hold the WIPL.”

The official further said,”As of now, we are going ahead with five teams but it could be six as there is a lot of interest among potential investors. In due course of time, the process of auctioning of teams will be announced.”

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has earlier confirmed that Women’s IPL will take place and they are working on it. Fans think that women’s IPL will improve the standard and the view of cricket for women in the world.

The another good news for the fans is that the reputed IPL franchisees Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have expressed their desires to buy their team in WIPL.
