When will BCCI announce the squad for the New Zealand ODI series? Check out

CRIC Informer

The BCCI is most likely to disclose the roster for the ODI series with New Zealand in the first week of January, as per the soonest news reports. India recently had a great time in the white-ball series against South Africa, beating the visitors in both ODIs and T20Is, and it was merely their next match. The men in blue will then go to New Zealand for three ODIs and five T20Is in a much-awaited tour opener on January 11.

In fact, the BCCI had already named India’s T20I squad for the New Zealand series and the same bunch of players were picked for the T20 World Cup next year as well. Different sources are dubbing it as the announcement of the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match series.

India squad for NZ ODIs to be unveiled by BCCI in 1st week of January

After easily defeating South Africa, team India is now ready to visit New Zealand to play. While the home team has already put together a second-string squad with mostly unknown players just for the ODIs, a source suggests that the BCCI may announce the squad on either January 3 or 4.

The legendary duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, along with some other ODIs players, are participating in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Acknowledging that the Indian players are all set for the highly-anticipated series, well-respected Times of India (TOI) journalist Gaurav Gupta has hinted that BCCI may announce the squad through an online meeting either on January 3 or 4.

Gill’s comeback in focus; Kohli, Rohit, Ishan ready for the New Zealand ODIs

In a dramatic twist of fate, Shubman Gill, who was the Indian Test and ODI captain, was dropped from the T20 World Cup after being unable to capitalize on his chances during the Asia Cup and the subsequent series against Australia and South Africa.

Therefore, it would be worthwhile to observe if, after getting well from his neck injury, Gill would make a comeback to the Indian squad for ODIs when BCCI announces squad for the New Zealand series.

Besides, Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma have been the talk of the town at the Vijay Hazare Trophy with their extraordinary skills. The trio’s red-hot form should be a major boost to the Indian team in the New Zealand series.
