The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to keep the legendary Sawai Mansingh Stadium as the best and only home ground for the Rajasthan Royals team in the upcoming IPL 2026 season. After an argument with their long-standing stronghold, the Royals team is said to be looking for other home grounds for IPL this year.
The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has confirmed that the Rajasthan Royals franchise has identified the MCA Stadium in Pune as its new home venue for IPL 2026.
Rajasthan Cricket appeals to BCCI amid infrastructure concern
Last year, the Rajasthan Royals team raised some issues regarding the infrastructure of Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The former champions have already proposed the consideration of new home venues before IPL 2026 and even pointed out Pune’s MCA Stadium.
Now, the RCA has sent a strong appeal to the BCCI urging the Indian board to keep the Jaipur venue this year for IPL 2026 season as the home of the Rajasthan Royals.
As per Cricbuzz report, one of the letters sent by the RCA to the BCCI in the past few days indicates that the cricket association is willing to come and meet with the Royals to discuss their concerns regarding the venue. The RCA also went on record to say that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium is “structurally sound and operationally safe.”
The RCA officials additionally pointed out that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium has been the venue for various Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, and already there have been bigger turnouts of fans without any “safety and security incidents” reported.
The RCA guaranteed their full cooperation with BCCI and Rajasthan Royals in providing “smooth, safe and successful hosting of IPL 2026” in Jaipur.
Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium has been the major home ground for Rajasthan Royals since the first season of the league in 2008.
Right now, it is still doubtful whether or not the Rajasthan Royals team will change its mind and stay with Jaipur as the home ground for IPL 2026.
