BCCI Announces Squad For T20 Series Against Australia, Suryakumar To Lead The Team

Star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has been given the captaincy role for the upcoming five-match T20 series against Australia. The first match of the series will be played on November 23 in Visakhapatnam.

Former Indian batter VVS Laxman VVS Laxman has taken on the role of head coach for the upcoming series, set to conclude in Bangalore on December 3. The majority of the squad from the Ireland series has been retained, except Jasprit Bumrah, who served as the captain for that series and has been given a rest.

The upcoming series will be India’s first venture after the 2023 ODI World Cup. In the tournament, Team India played superbly and reached the final without a single defeat. However, in the summit clash against Australia, the team went on to lose the match by six wickets.

Talking about the captaincy experience of Suryakumar Yadav, he served as the captain for both the Mumbai team at the domestic level and the India Under-23 team in the Emerging Cup a few years ago. Additionally, as the world’s top-ranked T20I batter, he had previously taken on the role of vice-captain for Team India during the West Indies tour.

Apart from that, the star Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer will be serving team India as the vice-captain for the last two matches of the series.
