India’s Junior Cricket Committee has made an important announcement, selecting Uday Saharan as the captain of the U19 squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023. As the defending champions and the most successful team in the tournament’s history, India is gearing up to showcase its cricketing prowess in the UAE from December 8-17.
Uday Saharan, the promising young cricketer, has been entrusted with the captaincy of the U19 squad. This decision reflects the committee’s confidence in his leadership skills and cricketing acumen.
The U19 squad comprises 15 talented individuals, with Saumy Kumar Pandey serving as the vice-captain and Aravelly Avanish Rao taking up the crucial role of wicket-keeper.
The squad boasts top performers from the ongoing U19 Quadrangular series, with Rudra Mayur Patel and Sachin Dhas emerging as the top two run-scorers. Musheer Khan and Naman Tiwari, the leading wicket-takers in the series, add strength to the bowling department.
In a strategic move, the selection committee has named three travelling standby players—Prem Devkar, Ansh Gosai, and Md. Amaan. Additionally, four reserve players—Digvijay Patil, Jayanth Goyat, P Vignesh, and Kiran Chormale—have been identified. Although the reserve players won’t be part of the touring contingent, they stand ready to step in if needed.
