Bangladesh has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup happening in India. Senior batter of the team Tamim Iqbal is not the part of this squad due to his persistent back injury. According to a reliable source, Tamim Iqbal has informed about the injury of him to the team management before the announcement and asked them to pick the team according to his fitness.
While announcing the team today’s evening, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has not given any official statement regarding the exclusion of the left-handed batter from the team.
In his comeback to international cricket on September 23 against New Zealand during the second ODI, Tamim scored 44 runs. This marked his return after deciding to make a comeback to the side, after retiring from cricket in July. His return to the field was further delayed due to an injury which resulted in him missing the Asia Cup.
Bangladesh will face Afghanistan on September 7 in their first encounter of the ODI World Cup 2023. The match will take place at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala.
