Bangladesh announced their squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, Shanto misses out

On Friday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named a 16-member team for the three T20 International games against Sri Lanka, starting July 10. A notable absence is former captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Shanto, who resigned as T20I captain earlier this year, was in the squads for the recent trips to the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. Still, he only played one game against the UAE and none in the Pakistan series. His recent struggles in the T20 format likely contributed to his omission.

Naim Sheikh is back after doing well in domestic cricket. Mohammad Saifuddin is also back on the team. Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, and Khaled Ahmed, who were part of the Pakistan series squad, were not selected this time.

Taskin Ahmed, who missed the recent tours due to injury, is back. Nasum Ahmed was picked over Tanvir Islam, who was in the squad for the Pakistan series in May.

Litton Das will captain the team, which includes both experienced and new players. The squad also has all-rounders Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shak Mahedi Hasan, along with regular players Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

The first T20I is on July 10 in Kandy, the second on July 13 in Dambulla, and the last on July 16 in Colombo.

Bangladesh Squad: Litton Das (Captain), Tanzid Tamim, Parvez Emon, Naim Sheikh, Tawhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Shamim Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rishad Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mohammad Saifuddin
