The emerging star of the Australian women’s team, Tahlia McGrath, won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month of August 2022 award for playing a major role for Australia to claim the Gold medal in Birmingham. McGrath beats India’s Jemimah Rodrigues and her teammate Beth Mooney to claim the ICC award of August 2022.
After winning the award, she said, “I’m honored to have been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for August, given there are so many great players who are at the top of their game at the moment.”
She added, “ I’m loving being back in the Australian team and being part of some exceptional moments, including making history as the first women’s team to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal.”
In the commonwealth games, she scored 78 in just 51 balls against Pakistan in the crucial moments when the team needed a partnership, took three valuable wickets in the same match, and clinched the win for Aus. McGrath didn’t stop there; she scored a useful 34 runs in the semis against New Zealand, took 2 wickets, and again announced her value and importance in the team.
