In the 18th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the Australian team is facing Pakistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore where the Australian team has set a target of 368 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.
During the Australian inning, both the opener David Warner(163) and Mitchell Marsh(121) got a solid hundred and created some words to his name. It was the 51st international century for David Warner and he put on some massive records to his name.
This is the third 150+ score of David Warner in ODI World Cup history, not even a single player has done this feat twice in the event’s history. David Warner has been caught out on this score two times. First, in 2012 against Sri Lanka and then today against Pakistan where in both innings, Warner scored 163 runs.
David Warner and Mitchell Marsh stitched a partnership of 259 runs for the first wicket. It is the fourth-highest partnership for Australia in ODI Cricket history. The first one also belonged to David Warner along with Travis Head where they got 284 runs against Pakistan in 2017.
The pair of Marsh and David Warner smashed 18 sixes in this match which is the highest by any opening pair in the history of 50-over cricket. Both Warner and Marsh smashed nine sixes each. Previously this record belonged to the pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Interestingly all these 16 sixes came from Rohit’s bat.
