Asia Cup2022: Big Blow For Team India, Head Coach Rahul Dravid Tested Positive For Covid-19

Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for Covid-19 and he might be absent from his coaching duties in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022.

According to reports, Dravid will not travel with the team from India to UAE and he will not be there with the team in the tournament where India will have its first encounter against Pakistan on August 28.

It is worth mentioning that Dravid was not there with the team on the Zimbabwe tour where India beat the hosts by 3-0 in the ODI series. During the tour, former Indian batter VVS Laxman was seen as the head coach. Now it will be interesting to see if the BCCI extends the duties of Laxman for Asia Cup 2022 or not.

The highlight of the news is that not only Rahul Dravid but the batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey will also miss the tour as they were in touch with the Head Coach during the tour.

Till now there is no confirmation on Dravid’s Covid -19 status and it is not clear whether he will join the team for the most anticipated opening game against Pakistan.

Rohit Sharma will lead the team India in the Asia Cup 2022 and the tournament will witness almost all the senior players. However, team India will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah as the pacer is out of the tournament due to injury.
