The heavy rain continued to disrupt the Asia Cup 2023 as it once again interrupted the match between India and Pakistan on Sunday which was played on September 10, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Nearly all the matches that took place during the Sri Lanka phase of the Asia Cup have been affected by rain. Last week, India’s group match against Pakistan in Pallekele also concluded without a result due to the same weather problem.
If showers continue to hinder the match on the reserve day and do not allow India to bowl at least 20 overs in the second innings, then the match will be called off. Both teams will get one point each.
During the Super 4 match on Sunday, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian opening batsmen showcased an improved performance and established a dominant partnership of 121 runs and providing a solid foundation for the middle-order batsmen.
Gill aggressively scored 58 runs from 52 balls for India as they posted a total of 147/2 in 24.1 overs. The game, which began with India batting first at the R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday, September 10, was interrupted by rain. The match will resume from the same point on the reserve day, which is Monday(September 11).
