The India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match in Pallekele was cancelled because of rain. India batted first and scored 266 runs in 48.5 overs after winning the toss. Pakistan didn’t have the opportunity to bat due to continuous rainfall. Both teams earned one point each as a result of the match ending without a winner. Rohit Sharma and team will play their next match at the same venue against Nepal on September 4th.
The match referee did an inspection at 9:00 PM IST. However, another round of drizzling began leading to the covers being placed back on the pitch. It became evident that the match was unlikely to continue under these conditions.
Due to weather, the match was also disturbed during India’s inning where the first rain happened at India playing 15/0 after 4.2 overs. However, India was bundled out for 266 runs. For India, Hardik Pandya scored the maximum 87 runs in 90 runs and Ishan Kishan got 82 in just 81 balls.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi got four wickets, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf got three wickets each.
