Asia Cup 2023: ‘If Not In Pakistan, Indian Team Can Play Matches In UAE’, PCB Comes Out With The Possible Hosting Solution

It has almost been more than 6 months for the Indian and Pakistan cricket fraternity to fight over the hosting rights of Asia Cup 2023 which is scheduled to happen later this year.

According to the reports, a solution appears to have been found as PCB is considering suggesting that India play their matches in the UAE rather than Pakistan.

If board sources are to be believed, PCB will continue to serve as the host and India would be able to play its games in the UAE where some games will take place.

According to a PCB source, the final of the Asia Cup could also be played in UAE if India qualifies for it. The Asia Cup was originally assigned to Pakistan and was set to take place in September of this year, but Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, and ACC chairman said in October of last year that India would not visit Pakistan because of the severe political relations between the two nations.

On February 4, the PCB’s Najam Sethi requested an emergency meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) be held in Bahrain. This meeting was organized after it was known that Pakistan was not selected as the tournament’s host.

Speaking to the media in this area on Thursday, Sethi stated that additional discussions about the hosting of the Asia Cup ODI event will take place on the margins of an ICC meeting next month as the issue “remains unsolved.”

Sethi said, “What can I say about what happened in the Asian Cricket Council board meeting? There was no resolution.”

One of the sources who are close to this matter said, “Sethi made it clear at the ACC meeting that PCB wants to host the event and some of the matches at home.”
