After defeating Sri Lanka by 211 runs, Team India has entered into the final of the Asia Cup 2023. Men in blue won two consecutive matches, one against Pakistan and the next against Sri Lanka to register them into the final. Now, according to a recent report, the most anticipated final of the 2023 Asia Cup is expected to be relocated from the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo due to adverse weather conditions in the city. Media reports suggest that the match will likely take place at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy.
Pallekele served as the venue for three group-stage matches, which included the intense clash between India and Pakistan on September 2. However, this match was washed out by rain and ended in a washout after India had scored 266 runs in their first innings. On other hand, the first match held at Pallekele between SriLanka and Bangladesh happened smoothly.
India’s game against Nepal was also affected by rain. The Indian team managed to secure victory by ten wickets through the DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern) method. Furthermore, the Super Four stage encounter between India and Pakistan was also disrupted by rain and it was played on the reserve day.
India has already made into the final and now it will be interesting to see which other team comes for the decider. The final of the Asia Cup will be played on September 17 but seeing the rain, the venues most probably to be shifted from Colombo.
