Bangladesh has one remaining match in the ongoing Asia Cup, which is against India in the Super Four stage scheduled for Friday, September 15th in Colombo. Unfortunately, the wicket-keeper batter of Bangladesh Mushfiqur Rahim will not take part in this match against India.
Mushfiqur Rahim had to return home after the match against Sri Lanka as his wife was expecting a child. There was a significant gap of several days between the two matches. During this time, Mushfiqur and his wife celebrated the arrival of their second child.
Bangladesh has been already knocked out from the final of the Asia Cup, and they will play the match against India just as the part of formality.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially confirmed Mushfiqur Rahim’s absence from the upcoming match. With Mushfiqur unavailable, Anamul Haque Bijoy, the only remaining wicket-keeper in the team is likely to be given an opportunity in the playing XI for the last match.
The chairman of the BCB operations, Jalal Yunus said,””Mushfiqur told us that his wife is still recovering, he needs to be by his wife and child now. We fully understand his situation, so we have allowed him not to play this match.”
