Asia Cup 2022: IND vs HKG – India advances to super 4 round after clinical win against Hong Kong

India vs Honk Kong in the Asia Cup 2022 started on 31 August, Wednesday in Dubai. India won by 40 runs after restricting Hong Kong at the score of 152.

India batting first scored a strong 192 runs at a loss of 5 wickets. Hong Kong only managed to score 152 runs in their given quota of 20 overs losing 5 wickets in the process. Suryakumar Yadav was the highest scorer of the match with 68 runs only in 26 balls.

Hong Kong won the toss and was elected to field first in the Group A match. Indian openers started slow and could not play their shots freely. Rohit Sharma fell inside the powerplay. Opener KL Rahul struggled with the bat today scoring 36 runs at a low strike rate of 92. At the 10-over mark, India was 70-1. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav guided India to a brilliant score finishing with 192 runs on the board. Kohli scored a calm and composed 59 runs, his 30th half-century in T20Is, in 44 balls. Suryakumar Yadav exploded on Hong Kong bowlers scoring 68 runs only in 26 balls with a whopping strike rate of 261. He smashed 6 fours and 6 sixes in his innings.
For Hong Kong, Mohammad Ghazanfar and Ayush Shukla took 1 wicket each of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma respectively.

In the second innings, Arshdeep Singh struck the first blow only in the second over. From there on Hong Kong kept losing wickets and the required run rate kept swelling beyond reach. Babar Hayat ( 41 runs in 35 balls), KD Shah ( 30 runs in 28 balls), and Zeeshan Ali ( 26 runs in 17 balls) were the top scorers.
For India, All five bowlers picked one wicket each but Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh leaked runs with more than 11 runs in an over.
