R Ashwin expressed his massive desire for England ahead of the T 20 World Cup

Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his desire to see Phil Salt and Jos Buttler open for England during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup which follows the team’s recent 3-0 victory against Sri Lanka in their T20I series. Ashwin used his YouTube channel to demonstrate that England uses an aggressive batting strategy during powerplay periods to achieve their objectives. England has tested various opening combinations which include pairing Ben Duckett with Phil Salt as an alternative to using Jos Buttler as their first-choice opener. “The T20 World Cup marks England’s arrival after they succeeded in all three matches against Sri Lanka during the T20I series which took place on their home soil. England dominates the powerplay with the bat. Ashwin explained that the opening pair of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler needed evaluation between Duckett and Salt because they used both players at different times. Ashwin presented strong evidence which demonstrated that Buttler and Salt should both serve as opening batsmen during the T20 World Cup. He addressed Salt’s current fitness problems by stating that Phil Salt experienced a small injury but he will participate in the T20 World Cup.

The former Indian cricketer explained that England would gain an advantage in Asian conditions through Buttler’s extensive experience and Salt’s present performance. “From my side, I would love to see Phil Salt and Jos Buttler open for England because Buttler has huge experience in Asian conditions, and Salt is at the peak of his powers,” Ashwin said.

Buttler, a two-time ICC Championship title winner, will compete in the T20 World Cup 2026 which begins on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.

The Three Lions have announced their squad for the upcoming ICC tournament, with star batter Harry Brook named captain. The Three Lions will start their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a match against Nepal on February 8.

Harry Brook (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood
