Ashutosh Sharma: Making His Mark on the Cricket World from breaking Yuvraj singh’s record to a IPL star

Punjab Kings impact sub Ashutosh Sharma is happy to repay the faith the team management has shown him. Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh played a blinder, helping their team chase down the target of 200 against the Gujarat Titans.

After the match, Ashutosh said, “Confidence was there because the coaches and Punjab Kings management believed in me a lot. They were supporting me a lot. They told me, ‘You’re such a player who is capable of finishing games for us’. That confidence, I carried. I went out to the middle and applied it. I feel happy to have repaid the faith shown by the coaches.”

It was in October when Ashutosh Sharma came into the limelight when he broke Yuvraj Singh’s record of fastest 50 by an Indian. Ashutosh Sharma scored 50 of just 11 deliveries for railways against Arunachal Pradesh.

Ashutosh Sharma further added, “I didn’t let my thoughts wander around. I thought these were situations that I have faced in the railway industry. I thought I would consider this chase as something similar and play. I had a lot of confidence. The confidence I gained from winning games for my team, Syed Mushtaq Ali, gave me confidence. I was telling myself, ‘I will do it’.”

Ashutosh Sharma smashed 31 of just 17 deliveries and added crucial 43 runs along with Shashank Singh. The Punjab Kings were in a spot of trouble when they lost Jitesh Sharma with 50 runs left to score just 27 deliveries.

Speaking about the same, Ashutosh Sharma said, “It was a very good innings from Shashank Singh. I had confidence in him that he would be able to pull it off. We are both pinch-hitters. We had the belief that we would win the match. We both were very calm; we didn’t panic at alll.  Shashank Singh was awarded Man of the Match for scoring 61* of just 29 deliveries.
