Ashes 2023: England Announces The Squad For The Third Test At Headingley, 2 Experienced Pacers Added

In the ongoing Ashes Series 2023, the England Cricket team has lost two back-to-back matches. The first one they lost in Edgbaston by two wickets and in the second match Australia beat the hosts by 43 runs. Now, the English management has announced the squad for the third Test match.

The third Test between England and Australia will start on July 6 in Headingley. England batter Ollie Pope who batted with his injured shoulder in both innings of the second Test has been retained in the squad.

Ollie Pope will undergo a medical scan and if the result will not come in favor of Pope, he may not be able to play in the next game. If that happens, England will go with Dan Lawrence as a replacement as he is the only batter in the squad who can fill that position. Moeen Ali was not included in the team for the second game due to an injury but the management is hopeful for his return to the third game.

England have extended their fast bowling option and they have added Chris Woakes and Markwood for the third game. Rehan Ahmed, the youngster who was added to the squad for the second game as a replacement for Moeen Ali has been dropped.

England squad for the third Ashes Test:

Ben Stokes (captain), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood
