As Father As Son, Arjun Levels The Record Of Sachin Tendulkar

Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, has made his debut in Ranji Trophy, representing Goa. 23-year-old left-handed batter slammed his maiden century against Rajasthan in Porvorim. Coincidentally 34 years ago, his father and master blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored a century in his debut Ranji match in December 1988.

On the second day of the match, Arjun resumed his batting from 4 runs and made a partnership of 200 runs with his centurion teammate Suyash Prabhudesai. At the end of 140 overs, Goa has heaped to 410/5, Arjun has scored 112 runs with the help of 15 fours and two sixes, and his partner Suyash Prabhudesai is playing on 152 runs with 25 fours to his name.

Earlier this year, Arjun switched his state from Mumbai to Goa. He made his dream debut representing Goa in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and registered his best bowling figure, 4/17, against Hyderabad.

Arjun is a bowling all-rounder, and he has been part of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, and in the upcoming season, he will remain in the MI because MI retained him. He has never been featured in any IPL match, but it will be interesting to see whether he will get the chance to play in the IPL 2023 or if he still has to wait on the bench.

In 1988, Tendulkar became the first batter to score a century in Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Trophy debuts. It will be interesting to watch whether Arjun will also level his father’s milestone or if it is just a showcase. But one of the noteworthy remarks is that Arjun Tendulkar is a bowling all-rounder, and Sachin was a right-handed batter.
