Another Big Announcement By BCCI For Female Cricket

BCCI has taken another big move for female cricketers and is all set to introduce female umpires in the Ranji Trophy. Vrinda Rathi, Janani Narayanan, and Gayathri Venugopalan are the first three female umpires who will be the match officials in the upcoming weeks when the domestic league matches will touch their peak.

Coming from the official’s background, this trio is from the most prestigious city in India. Rathi is from Mumbai, Narayanan is from Tamil Nadu, and Venugopalan is from Delhi. They will be the first women to become the match umpires in the senior men’s tournament history. However, Rathi and Narayanan have done match official’s role in the domestic CK Nayudu Trophy.

“Going ahead, women umpires will be getting to do Ranji Trophy games. This is just a start. The BCCI has decided to give them the opportunity in the men’s game, too,” a BCCI official said.

Earlier, BCCI implemented an equal pay scale for the female cricketer as the male cricketer, and now this action will be a big move from the BCCI officials. It will take India’s female cricket to another level. Many of the former cricketing have been doing cricket commentary.

BCCI will host the Women’s IPL next year, in which five teams will participate. This platform will bring some extraordinary players at the international level in women’s cricket.

Looking at the approach of the BCCI towards female cricket will bring a lot of confidence to future female cricketers, and other boards need to learn from the BCCI.
