The Rajasthan Royals have now succumbed to their seventh defeat at the IPL 2025. They currently sit in eighth place, having managed to win only two matches out of nine. They have now lost three straight matches after a good start. They made it tough against the Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, where they couldn’t score nine runs in their last over in one match and failed to chase down 18 runs in the final two overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
After their latest defeat, Royals captain Riyan Parag said that they could have batted better and pointed out that the batters at the lower end didn’t execute it well enough. In turn, the former cricketer Amit Mishra criticized Parag for blaming the batting group. Mishra felt that Parag should take ownership in the loss; after all, his bowling was part of the team display. He said that the Royals were managing the game well but lost it by conceding extra runs like the 14 wides bowled. You made a mistake exactly when it mattered most. You can’t blame others when they’re in the thick of things, Mishra told Cricbuzz.
Moreover, if Parag hadn’t gotten out at the wrong time, they could’ve won, as some of his shot choices could have been avoided. You should have kept it safe and taken the match deeper, he added. On the contrary, Virender Sehwag defended the Royals, saying they were not so bad against the spinners. According to him, they were good with the bat and decent with the ball; by this, he was arguing for the fact that it was still their match to win while Hetmyer and Dhurv Jurel were batting. Sehwag also shared his comments on Cricbuzz.
