Cricket and Bollywood have been linked for ages. We’ve seen cricketers marry actors, like MAK Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, and KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty. Some Bollywood stars even own cricket teams, such as Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. Celebrities often attend important cricket matches. Aamir Khan is one of them. He was at Wankhede Stadium for Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement in 2013 and the 2011 World Cup final when India, led by MS Dhoni, won.
Khan’s cricket story goes on. In a recent talk, Aamir Khan said he married Reena Dutta (they’re now divorced) on April 18, 1986. That was the same day Pakistan’s Javed Miandad hit a last-ball six against India in the Austral-Asia Cup final, winning the game for his team.
Khan said he and Reena secretly married and kept it from their folks. He told Lallantop, It was the day Javed Miandad hit that six in Sharjah. We were worried when we got home, but everyone was glued to the match, so nobody asked us anything.
I was glad India seemed to be winning on my wedding day, against Pakistan. But then Miandad hit the six, and we lost.
Khan added that he once met Miandad and told him, Javed Bhai, you didn’t do a good thing. You ruined my wedding! I was so upset after that six.
Javed Miandad is seen as one of Pakistan’s best batters. He scored 8832 runs in 124 Tests with an average of 52.57. In 233 ODIs, he made 7381 runs at an average of 41.70.
