Ajinkya Rahane is guessing who might be in the Indian cricket team for the first Test against England starting this Friday. He shared his lineup on YouTube, and there are a few unexpected choices in there. Notably, he left out Karun Nair and Prasidh Krishna, picking Dhruv Jurel to strengthen the middle order instead. Shardul Thakur made the cut after performing well in the warm-up match.
Rahane picked Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul as the openers, with Sai Sudharsan taking the No. 3 spot for his debut. The middle order includes skipper Shubman Gill, Dhruv Jurel, and keeper Rishabh Pant, while Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur are the all-rounders.
For the bowling attack, he opted for three fast bowlers: Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh. Gill talked about how crucial it is to take 20 wickets to win, saying, You can’t win a Test match without taking 20 wickets, no matter how many runs you score. He added that the team is thinking a lot about how they will manage to take those wickets.
According to Gill, they might go with six regular batters, plus a bowling all-rounder and three or four main fast bowlers. The team is looking to make a strong start to the series, especially since the conditions might be a bit different than usual for England.
Rahane’s predicted XI is: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh.
