Ajinkya Rahane makes a massive admission after KKR’s flop show against GT

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane knows his team needs to step up their batting after the loss to Gujarat Titans in their latest game. With just three wins out of eight, they really need to start winning if they want to defend their title. KKR couldn’t chase down 199 runs against GT at Eden Gardens, which came right after another disappointing performance against Punjab Kings.

After the game, Rahane said he felt 199 was a target they could handle. We bowled well and got back into the match, but we really struggled with the bat. We need to sort this out quickly. He pointed out that the pitch was a bit slow but that they should have chased down the target. We know the conditions, and we should’ve batted better in the middle overs.

He also praised his bowlers for keeping GT under 200 runs, especially with players like Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler scoring well. Our bowlers are doing a great job, and fielding is something we can control to save runs, he added. Rahane mentioned that they need to focus on their attitude and energy throughout the game. This format is tough; we need to be brave and learn from our mistakes without dwelling on the past.
