Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old boy, opened the innings on 28 April for Rajasthan Royals and scored a phenomenal hundred at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur from just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans. This left-handed batsman from Bihar smashed seven fours and 11 sixes to make the youngest man to reach a hundred in men’s T20 cricket at 14 years and 32 days. He also made the record of the fastest IPL century by an Indian as it was scored in just 35 balls.
The following Suryavanshi magnificent performance-setting gave the Rajasthan Royals a total of 210 runs in 15.5ovrs with two wickets remaining at the same time still keeping open the doors for playoffs for the year IPL 2025, in reply to the performance shown. The GT captain, Shubman Gill, tried to downplay the event with a casual comment, stating that probably it was just that lucky day for Suryavanshi.
In a heated discussion on Jio Hotstar, former India star and present commentator Ajay Jadeja slammed Gill for his comments. Jadeja blasted off Gill as merely “some player on television.” Self-belief, particularly at that young age, becomes of supreme importance, and according to his observation, Suryavanshi had made it possible by converting his dreams into reality on the field; therefore, Jadeja went on to appreciate the power, timing, and calmness with which the batter plays, and more the environment which should be allowing him to flourish.
